FLOWER CEILING 16 September 2016

We are bringing out one of our archive projects to share with you — a unique ceiling design created in the Krasnodar region, Russia, in collaboration with the BonTon design bureau.

The project author, designer Eleonora Polupanova, imagined and brought to life an extraordinary origami ceiling for the restaurant at one of the finest resorts in the region — “Usadba”.

The ceiling was handcrafted from 3,062 petals, each cut from Drop Paper® 80 g/m² (learn more about the material), and fixed in three points onto a pre-stretched galvanized grid. A spotlight was placed in the center of each flower, creating both a decorative and functional effect.

One of the biggest challenges was working around ventilation and air conditioning systems — but the team successfully managed all the technical difficulties. Installation took a total of 20 days.

The result is a ceiling that is not only visually striking but also fire-safe: Drop Paper® 80 does not support combustion, making this type of decoration both original and secure for public interiors.

And we love the result. Do you?
