The design of high ceilings is our core competence! 19 December 2017

The task of how to design high ceilings is as important for an architect or designer as it is for low ceilings.

After all, what are high ceilings? It is, first of all, a large volume of space, which can be so impressive that the ergonomics of the room often becomes uncomfortable, the extremely high ceilings, as a rule, carry a secondary problem - there are excessive acoustics.

And very high ceilings are often present in both old and new industrial premises that can be used as offices, concept stores or galleries.

So, how to utilize high ceilings? Here are some out-of-the-box solutions we can offer for decorating high ceilings...

1. The use of non-flammable non-woven lamellas in the ceiling decor.

Cellulose translucent material that resembles paper, thanks to the presence of glass fiber in its composition, has a beautiful texture and perfect light transmission.  And an additional bonus is the unique dimensions of the raw material. With a width of 240 cm, the material can be up to 250 pm long, which allows you to create a magnificent voluminous seamless ceiling structures of any height.  This is an effective way to "hide" excess height, while transforming an uncomfortable room into a designer space with a ceiling art installation!  The properties of the paper work well with finishes such as concrete and brick, emphasizing the brutal characteristics of these materials, but when combined with cellulose ceilings, these inherently contrasting materials are at their best when combined into a single modern design composition.

The density of Drop Paper® is only 60g per m2, so we do not need heavy structures to suspend the lamellas, and in general, the ceiling systems do not have any critical impact on the supporting elements and the roof.

2. The use of niches and coffers in rooms with excessive heights.

Here we offer the very cozy and unusual Paralume® niche solution.  Paralume® is the combination of an unusual design idea combined with excellent illumination.  Paralume® light masking technology allows you to achieve a stunning light design effect and the opportunity to create a 3D relief.  On the one hand, you lower the level of a very high ceiling, and on the other hand, you can perfectly position all the utilities in the resulting ceiling space.  And the formed niches and coffers can be used for different design purposes.

4. The use of large-sized decorative fixtures.

Especially beautiful are handmade fixtures of non-standard sizes made of non-woven non-flammable material with a honeycomb structure or in combination with lamellas made of the same material arranged in the same ceiling space.  It is also possible to use color solutions in the entire RGB palette, as the Drop Paper® material perfectly accepts and reflects any colored light streams.

Decorative fixtures can also be used as a medium for navigational information. In this way, you have non-standard solutions for the design of high ceilings and maximize the use of its functionality: beautifully visible architectural structures "work" for the recognition and branding of the space.

5. Use of mega-sized ceiling art objects.

Here's how the principle works in this case - the volume in halls with high ceilings is visually balanced by the presence of mega-size objects in the room. The properties of the raw material will make it possible to "cover" huge spaces, dispersing light streams and leaving open access to engineering utilities. Such mega-art objects can carry an additional function of a completely new large-scale information carrier. Any kind of printing, author's drawing or text - all this expands the possibilities and personalizes our products for any specific purpose.

In our case, it is better to see examples than to write a whole lot about it.

We invite designers and architects to cooperate. With us, any of your ideas can be realized. Where it is impossible to use or offer design options made with traditional materials - we offer easy, simple and absolutely unique design solutions for your projects.
